A pair of Miracles: Noa and Kekoa

We interviewed Krista Green, mother of twins Noa and Kekoa, their story is quite amazing.

How did you discover that your child had special needs? 
Noa and Kekoa were born at 27 weeks gestation. They were going to have many hurdles to overcome. Kekoa had several surgeries to correct internal problems and Noa had severe lung and heart issues.

How did you learn about Easter Seals Early Intervention?
Our family learned about Easter Seals through BabyNet and the help of Jenny McGorty.

How do you feel your child is doing now in comparison to when they first started their Early Intervention journey? What are they able to do now that they were not able to do before?
I feel that Noa and Kekoa are making great strides. In the beginning, they were not able to do anything. Their little bodies were on opposite ends of the spectrum. Kekoa had no muscle tone and the inability to lift his head. Noa had over production of tight muscles. She was unable to do small movements because it took her whole body to do any little thing. Since receiving therapy from Missy, they are starting to make a complete change. They are slowly learning to turn muscle on and off. They have become the happiest babies as they gain in strength. They could not ask for a better Physical Therapist, Missy is so kind and loving. The babies truly feel the love from her.

What kinds of support have been most helpful to you and why? (family, support groups, Early Interventionist,therapists,etc)
The support from Missy and Jenny has been the most helpful. They have always given me encouragement throughout this whole process. Sometimes it felt as though I was receiving therapy as well. They would be a listening ear to a very concerned mother of special needs twins. They always know how to make me smile and see the happiness in the little milestones that Noa and Kekoa are making. Our family feels truly blessed to have them in our lives.
