Meet Sweet Oliver!


How did you discover that your child had Special needs?
Chromosomal testing during pregnancy determined a 99% chance of Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome)


How did you learn about Easter Seals Early Intervention?
When Oliver began receiving OT services with his Occupational Therapist, Juliet who works with Easter Seals.


How do you feel your child is doing now in comparison to when he first started his Early Intervention journey? What is he able to do now that he was not doing before?
Oliver is doing fabulous! He was starting to perfect his “head holding skills” but wasn’t quite there when he began with Juliet. He has long since learned to hold up his head and has now almost perfected sitting! He can remove objects from a box or his shapes from his shape sorter and put them back in- all by himself. He will also attempt to stack his rings on the ring stacker toy all on his own and can do it completely when helped! Lastly, he will rake puffs or cheerio’s off his tray and feed himself (sometimes). This was something he was totally uninterested in before.


What Kinds of support have been most helpful to you and why? (Family, support groups, Early Interventionist, Therapists, etc.)
Our family has been a wonderful support to Ryan, Oliver, and I. All of Oliver’s doctors have been absolutely wonderful. His four therapists have probably been our biggest support when it comes to his development resources and tips for things to do at home. Family Connections have also been a big support.
